CENTCOM:At approximately 8:30 pm (Sanaa time) Jan. 17, an assessed one-way attack UAS was launched from Houthi controlled areas in Yemen and struck M/V Genco Picardy in the Gulf of Aden. M/V Genco Picardy is a Marshall Islands flagged, U.S. owned and operated bulk carrier ship. There were no injuries and some damage reported. M/V Genco Picardy is seaworthy and continuing underway

CENTCOM: On Jan. 15 at approximately 4 p.m. (Sanaa time), Iranian-backed Houthi militants fired an anti-ship ballistic missile from Houthi-controlled areas of Yemen and struck the M/V Gibraltar Eagle, a Marshall Islands-flagged, U.S.-owned and operated container ship. The ship has reported no injuries or significant damage and is continuing its journey. Earlier in the day, at approximately 2 p.m. (Sanaa time), U.S. Forces detected an anti-ship ballistic missile fired toward the Southern Red Sea commercial shipping lanes. The missile failed in flight and impacted on land in Yemen. There were no injuries or damage reported

The @WhiteHouse National SEcurity Council Spokesman John Kriby on Yemen: We have got a review of that designation (Houthis as a Foreign Terrorist Organization FTO) that we are still conducting, the goal here is not to contain the Houthis, just to be clear, we don't want to see these attacks on the commercial shipping and we are going to do to counter and defend against those attacks. the Houthis they have made certain decisions up to this time, they have to make certain decisions going forward and we will see what decisions they make they will bear the consequences for those decisions going forward
John Kirby: The Houthis target all commercial ships that pass through the Red Sea, even those that have no connection to Israel. The United States established a coalition to protect international navigation, and forty countries warned the Houthis of the consequences of the threat to maritime navigation. We will not get ahead of things, and it is best for the Houthis to stop.
